thailand
A week from now I'll be in Bangkok. All of the busy-ness of day-to-day life here will be radically altered by 24 hours of travel. I was very conscious of this today as it seemed like I was rushing from one thing to the next. I'm really looking forward to life slowing down for the next two months. Especially during the first month of our time there life will be quite simple. We'll get up early, work hard during the day, enjoy our time together as a family/team in the evenings, and then go to bed pretty early. Distractions will come in the way of crowing roosters and fun-loving kids--as opposed to computers, tv, and advertisements. I think it will be good for Amanda & I to be away from here for awhile. We need something to refresh us, some rejuvenation. I don't want to say that we're getting burned out, but I will say that we're getting a little worn out. I'm really hoping that being in Thailand for two months will help us get a fresh perspective on things. I have a few things rumbling around in my head that need some clarification...
I'm not meaning to commicate that I'm not enjoying life at the moment, but that I've been feeling for awhile now that this stage of life is coming to an end. I'm feeling a bit complacent, and that scares me. I don't want to start settling and slip into mediocrity. I really love what I do, so I'm just considering what else there might be to challenge me, or add to what I'm doing. It feels like I've been doing this long enough so I'm pretty good at it, and I don't want to rest on that. I want to look for what else there may be to further me in what I'm doing. That seems pretty selfish, but I think that's ok...
